Worship Committee
Purpose: The Worship Committee is responsible to provide assistance and direction for matters relative to worship services and special church services. To liaise between the Congregation, Minister and Music Director.
The membership of this committee shall consist of the Minister, a designated chairperson, and members of Central Board.
The duties of the committee include:- Regular reviews with the Minister, relative to Content & Order of Worship, and special meetings as required.
- Ensuring appropriate celebration of the seasons of the Christian year and other special days, in consultation with the Minister.
- Making arrangements for Communion Services including preparation of the elements and selection of servers.
- Maintaining an attractive and appropriate setting for worship, including sanctuary preparations for special occasions.
- Ensuring that Hymn numbers are placed on Hymn Board.
- Encouraging the development of various forms of worship utilizing the talents of the congregation in planning and in leadership.
- Development and review of Baptism, Confirmation, Wedding and Funeral policies, in consultation with the minister.
- Participating in interviews of persons intending to pursue church careers.
- Guest book (ensuring it is read and appropriate follow-up occurs).
- Music and Hymn selection.
- Greeting and ushering.
- Selection and coordination of scripture readers.
- Arranging the collection and presentation of the offering.
